turn to spy magic
Winnie and Wilbur is an animated series for children aged 5-8, based on the best-selling books by Valerie Thomas and Korky Paul, published by Oxford University Press. The series is currently in early development for Channel 5 Milkshake, ZDF in Germany and Discovery Kids Latin America.
I am creative producer on the project, having adapted the Winnie and Wilbur world for the small screen. I wrote the series bibles and first batch of scripts in collaboration with OUP and the broadcast partners and I now oversee script development and all creative aspects of the production.
Minute Cake was a weekly experimental video diary project between September 2013 and December 2015 that explored the life of film within internet culture and social media. An ephemeral video experience, every few days, a new clip appeared – personal, democratic video that is still beautiful and meaningful.

In 2014 I was still living in Russia and unable to take part in the dialogue surrounding the Scottish Independence Referendum. Instead I made a documentary with Scottish expats living in St Petersburg. The resulting film, Independent Souls, is a meditation on national identity and its effect on our social experience.
Conception was a beautiful idea for a film that never made it into the world. Three girls, three filmmakers, one mother, one pregnant, and one with a good idea. Can women balance creativity with motherhood? Or is making babies women’s most creative act?
A great deal of footage was taken in St Petersburg and Kiev in the spring and summer of 2013, but never made it to the editing room.

For years yoga has been a source of personal comfort and joy for me, but in the last couple of years it has become a more serious undertaking, subject of deep study, part-time job, and creative outlet.
Yoga combines discipline, physical movement and spiritual practice, but also philosophy, interpersonal relations, imagination and craft through lesson planning, class music choices, social media content, and mixing of hand-selected essential oil blends.
I teach four public classes per week and keep a regular blog on questions of philosophy and practice.
born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland; half-czech and half-scottish and always intrigued by what’s in between.
fascinated with building bridges – between people, between languages, between media, from adapting books into scripts to translating from one language to another or making the esoteric accessible.
I studied modern languages at Oxford then moved to St Petersburg Russia where I taught english, studied film directing at the state theatre academy, and made short films.
back in Scotland, I am working with Winduna on Winnie and Wilbur, teaching yoga, and always listening out for magic, the wonderful is everywhere.
